Twelve Middlebury students will be traveling to Los Angeles over February break as part of a Middlebury Alternative Break (MAlt) trip. Climate change is a significant global threat that needs to be addressed by a united effort from all corners of society. This trip will be partnering with California Interfaith Power and Light to learn and reflect on the role religious traditions and interfaith groups are playing in climate work. Through educational programs, reflections, site visits, and community service, trip participants will work closely with multiple community organizations including Stand-LA to delve deeper into the issues of environmental justice alongside community members who are affected disproportionately by climate change.

MAlt is a student organization that provides student-designed and student-led service trips for Middlebury College students. MAlt offers opportunities for students to participate in strong direct service that seeks to address needs as determined by a local community partner. MAlt is committed to a needs-blind acceptance policy. As a result, we do extensive fundraising to ensure that participants’ financial needs can be met. We all work together to support one another, which is why this fundraiser is so critical to our efforts.
