Faculty at home: Kate Crawford

Tuesday, November 8, 2022 4:15 PM - 5:00 PM

Please join Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies Kate Crawford for a talk entitled "Making Sense of PFAS: A slippery slope." An integral part of solving “The PFAS Problem” is understanding where PFAS (per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances) are found in the environment, how people are being exposed, and what adverse health effects are associated with PFAS exposure. PFAS are a class of chemical compounds widely used in consumer products and industrial processes. However, research shows that PFAS are nearly everywhere in the environment and people’s bodies and persist for extremely long periods of time. Dr. Kate Crawford’s talk will include an overview of the PFAS problem and her current research projects investigating PFAS contamination and adverse human health impacts.
